Lori Chalupny, this picture makes me sad, being a bandwagon Rangers fan and all. But you are adorable nevertheless.

WPS has helped the U.S. national team, with players such as Megan Rapinoe and Becky Sauerbrunn playing their way onto the U.S. roster and other players staying sharp with competitive games.
“Would [the league’s survival] be a plus?” [president of the US Soccer Federation Sunil] Gulati said. “The answer is yes. But are there other ways to get where we want to be? Yes.”
Gee, Sunil. Don’t overcommit yourself to supporting women’s soccer there or anything. I know you’re busy helping the Krafts run New England into the ground, not to mention your Klinsmann shrine project, but this is pretty pathetic.

Sure! This is the
league’s statement after Borislow filed suit against them to keep control of the team. This is
Borislow’s response. (Grammar and punctuation [sic], I assume.) The story is still developing, I’m pretty sure, so there will be more to follow.
As far as how I stay up to date without games to watch, I’ve never had a local team, so nothing’s changed, I guess. ;) I read
All White Kit and listen to and read
Cross Conference, and between the two of them and Twitter, I manage to keep mostly in the loop. And doing
Girls in the Cheap Seats, I feel a little more of an obligation to keep up than I would if I was just Jane Doe Fangirl.
My thoughts on the WPS/magicJack/Borislow drama
Assuming anyone cares.
I don’t know whose side I’m supposed to be on in this. WPS made a big mistake letting Borislow buy the team and move it to Florida. Even when it happened, I think we knew that. But I don’t know that the league had any other choice - were there other people lining up to take over after the Freedom’s owners bailed? Was there another realistic expansion option? I honestly don’t know. Borislow is … not stable. And he’s really screwed up a team that had a great history behind it. If there’s someone else who can run the club (in DC or Florida), and your contract allows it, sure, get him out of there. But I guess my interest is really in keeping the league afloat, even though I’m here in Texas and will probably never get to see a live game. There are so many great players in WPS and they deserve better than this league and Borislow has been giving them. Rooftop pools in Boca Raton or not.
